Silverstone Park’s latest Phase 3 industrial development can now be seen in a whole new light, quite literally, with its surrounding landscaping works spectacularly bursting into life thanks to a mix of rain showers mixed with warmer weather.
As spring arrives, more than 10,000 plants have started to show their true colours for the first time since the development was completed in autumn last year.
These include:
• 8,600 Native hedge and shrub plants
• 550 Marginal and aquatic plants
• Over 1300 m2 of wildflower and wetland meadow mixes
Some 230 native trees – including the increasingly threatened black poplar species – have also been added as part of the landscaping works, designed by ASA Landscape Architects and planted by Charlton Abbotts Forestry.
Ornamental planting has been carried out, too, designed to benefit UK species and provide colour and nectar throughout the year.
ASA Director Carolyn Place commented:
“We have been delighted to work with developer MEPC, Ridge & Partners and Barnwood in the design and overseeing the installation of green infrastructure which builds upon the highly successful planting of Phase 2.
This will extend the green network which links to the Phase 2 native planting and adjacent Farthing Wood, through the creation of wildlife corridors and a network of biodiverse swales incorporating marginal and aquatic plants.
“In addition, the existing hedgerows, streams and mature trees have been retained and enhanced and a network of footpaths, picnic areas and break-out spaces have been incorporated between the buildings, providing attractive spaces for both occupiers and wildlife to enjoy.”
The Phase 3 development comprises four new detached industrial units.
Two have quickly been occupied by renowned engineering businesses KW Special Projects and Lunaz Applied Technologies.
