The Building Podcast: Mark Wakeford & Chris Kimber-Nickelson

Podcast / 5 Dec 2024

Construction clients start all our projects and define what success looks like. The traditional triumvirate of time, cost and quality are being redefined by intelligent clients to better reflect demands of their stakeholders, where environment, social and governance (ESG) issues are relevant.

Large, and often international clients, who are competing on an international stage are now looking to see how they can generate long term value from these broader issues.

Mark chats with Chris Kimber-Nickelson, Commercial Development Director for MEPC* – an established and significant UK developer – about creating value for their occupiers through reduced embodied and operational carbon, plus the introduction of smart grids and on-site renewable energy generation.

Chris talks about partnership with his supply chain to deliver better value, recognising that these changing demands from clients can drive significant change throughout the construction industry.

* MEPC has been the developer of Silverstone Park since 2013. In that time it has delivered its vision to turn the site into a world-class campus for innovation and technology, with on-going industrial development which has attracted some of the most exciting advanced engineering and manufacturing companies. More than 90 businesses are now located at Silverstone Park compared to around 50 in 2013.
