Digital Manufacturing Centre to showcase Additive Manufacturing innovations at DSEI UK
News / 13 Aug 2025

The Digital Manufacturing Centre (DMC) will showcase bold new ideas at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI UK) show next month, demonstrating how additive manufacturing (AdM) and its design expertise can deliver transformative defence capabilities.
The Silverstone Park-based engineering specialist will share how AdM can solve defence challenges, from boosting performance to improving efficiency.
Its approach from inside its 20,000 sq ft premises goes beyond production by drawing on advanced design principles and high-performance sector experience enabled by advanced engineering simulation.
Notably, UK defence spending reached £53.9 billion in 2023/24 and is forecast to climb to £56.9 billion in 2024/25 and £59.8 billion in 2025/26.
DMC Founder and CEO Kieron Salter commented:
“I’m often asked about the benefits of AdM and most people are fixated on the manufacturing process which, although amazing, is only part of the story – you can have a Steinway Piano but it doesn’t make you a concert pianist.
“At DMC we have the deep knowledge, expertise and vast experience built from supporting performance motorsport, to maximise the advantages of AdM for Defence.
“First up is lightweighting for UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) and the Aerospace industry.”
Lightweighting — reducing weight without sacrificing strength — will be a headline focus at DSEI, offering UAVs and aerospace platforms greater range, fuel efficiency, and payload capacity.
By combining advanced materials with innovative engineering, DMC aims to give defence customers lighter, stronger, and more adaptable solutions, underlining how manufacturing innovation and deep technical expertise can deliver game-changing results.
DSEI UK is one of the world’s largest defence and security trade shows. This year’s event takes place at ExCeL London from 9-12 September.
