She once turned down a job on a tropical island from Richard Branson and, on another occasion, fettled Frank Bruno’s feet – meet Sarah Cleaver, new PA to Silverstone Park’s Commercial Director Roz Bird!
Sarah joined the Silverstone Park team in November 2018. “Organisation and prioritising are key,” she says when it comes to arranging Roz’s busy diary – skills she learnt well during eight years as a PA to senior management for Virgin Active gym group and then the Upsolar energy company (which she was later tasked with liquidating)!
“It’s a brilliant team of people here – everyone’s made me feel very welcome and part of the team straight away. There’s never a day goes by when you don’t meet or deal with someone interesting,” she adds.
Four fascinating facts about Sarah:
• She is an art enthusiast and no mean pencil drawing artist herself
• She is a keen ‘iron run’ competitor – 25kms of swimming lakes and running through mud and fire!
• She is a trained chiropodist – clients have included Frank Bruno (“who was lovely but a bit strange”) and MK Dons during its successful promotion to The Championship in 2015 (“feet for footballers tend to be quite important”)!
Oh, the fourth? “When I was working for Virgin Active, the CEO flew me to Madrid for a function and I ended up having lunch with Richard Branson! Little did I know his PA had just resigned and the next thing I knew my CEO recommended me for the post.
“I went through the interview process and then got a call direct from Richard Branson offering me the job – on Necker Island in the Virgin Islands in the Caribbean!
“Family, though, was very important to me and I turned it down. Had I taken it I’d never have had my two lovely children and I wouldn’t change that for the world.”
