Award winning supply chain management company Freight Logistics Solutions (FLS) has chosen Silverstone Park to open its first office in central England – with staff immediately getting involved in helping the NHS deal with the COVID-19 crisis.
Some members of FLS’s team, who would normally be based in FLS’s 300sq ft office inside the Park’s Innovation Centre, have been putting in long shifts remotely.
This has enabled the distribution of personal protective equipment from four NHS depots using up to 40 express vans per day.
In addition, a fleet of vehicles managed by FLS’s Regional Client Manager Gary Murray – also normally based at Silverstone Park – has been getting set to transport ventilators and equipment from depots in Rugby and Bury St Edmunds to London’s ExCeL centre which has been converted into a hospital for coronavirus patients.
Gary said “We are proud to be supporting the NHS at this time, and the PPE delivered to date has been very gratefully received – as soon as loads are available we get it out there, and we have received some great comments from the NHS team.”
One message from an NHS Operations Excellence Manager to FLS read: “Your drivers have supported nearly 1000 emergency lines of PPE being delivered to the NHS over the past few days.
“Thank you for your fantastic support. As we move through the phases of supporting the NHS there will be further challenges, yet unknown, I am now confident they can be delivered with your continued support. Thanks again.”
Gary added: “The Innovation Centre has provided us with a great home to support delivery to our Midlands based customers and is a really exciting area for business growth, especially for the automotive and manufacturing industries which have been lead sectors for the business over the past three years.
“We’re delighted to be at Silverstone Park – its automotive heritage and ambition for innovation is perfect for us – and we’re looking forward to meeting businesses in the region to talk about the FLS offer.”
FLS is a unique business in the freight sector providing logistics services ranging from a single pallet delivery to a fully outsourced on-site, transport solution. It provides a combination of services, from road and air transport, freight forwarding, digital freight and contract logistics.
The business was founded in 2016 in Pontypool, in response to the Brexit referendum. Its business performance across the board has resulted in the following accolades: Global and Wales Start-up Business of the Year; Best Business Team at the Wales SME Awards; Best Company at the Monmouthshire Business Awards. It was also runner-up at the recent Fast Growth50 Awards.
Founder and managing director Ieuan Rosser said “Silverstone and the East Midlands area is a fantastic opportunity for us to continue our success. The growth of the business has been driven by securing customers real savings on their freight costs, improving service levels and enhancing the provision of transport data, especially when delivering outsourced contracts.”
He continued: “We are confident about the future. Things like Brexit will change the needs of our clients and we know we will be able to help.
“The changing landscape in transport is the reasoning FLS has developed a full digital freight offer for clients who need it, as well as that personal international freight forwarding service that is so important. We can’t wait to show businesses in the Midlands how they can benefit from using FLS for their transport requirements.”
