Park’s social events raise funds for Macmillan & Wear It Pink charity days

Two more fun social events arranged by Silverstone Park developer MEPC for companies at the high-tech engineering business estate have helped raise in excess of £500 in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Support and Breast Cancer Now charities.

A hugely popular ‘bake off’ (now in its third year) was held as part of Macmillan’s national coffee morning campaign and resulted in donations £250.00.

Silverstone UTC student Shannon Louise Benson cooked up the best treat of all to win herself a cookie jar. Among the runners-up was Emily Beech, an employee of fast moving consumer goods marketing specialist Sales Out, who received a giant muffin tin plus storage boxes for her efforts.

Both are pictured (right) with MEPC’s Ruth Williams and Claire Waterson, Facilities Co-ordinator for the Silverstone Park Metrology Facility managed by Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence where they received their prizes.

A week after, kind-hearted companies and their staff then raised as further £267.00 as they donned a splash of pink in support of the nationwide ‘Wear It Pink’ day – part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month run by Breast Cancer Now.

The two events continued the busy diary of social events organised by MEPC for its occupiers at Silverstone Park. A sports day was held in September and in October there has also been a quiz night.

Silverstone Park’s social committee, run by MEPC and companies on the estate, will soon release details of forthcoming Christmas activity.
