MEPC’s on-going development of Silverstone Park has been shortlisted for honours at this year’s prestigious Planning Awards ceremony.
The high-tech business estate is in the running for ‘Planning Permission of the Year’ when the Awards take place at London’s Savoy Place in June.
This follows MEPC and Terence O’Rourke (TOR) successfully achieving new outline permission for over 2 million sq ft of commercial development at the estate after consultation with Aylesbury Vale District, South Northants, Buckinghamshire County and Northamptonshire County councils.
This milestone consent has helped to secure the global significance of Silverstone Park within the Cambridge-Milton Keynes-Oxford Corridor and the newly established Silverstone Technology Cluster – an organisation formed in 2016 to promote the capability of high-tech firms in the local area.
The Planning Awards, run by Planning magazine in conjunction with PlanningResource and PlacemakingResource, recognise excellence in both planning and place-making and are highly regarded within environmental planning and construction industries.
TOR’s Head of Environmental Planning Neil Trollope commented: “It has been incredibly exciting to work with MEPC to achieve a market-led and adaptable outline planning consent on a high profile site of national significance.
“We are delighted that the success of this project has been recognised by the 2018 Planning Awards.”
Meanwhile Aylesbury Vale District Council has also been shortlisted for the ceremony’s Local Authority Planning Team of the Year award.
