Silverstone Park & Tech Cluster to feature at South Northants conference

01 August 2018

Silverstone Park Commercial Director Roz Bird will be a guest speaker at South Northamptonshire Council’s Innovation & Investment Conference in September.

Roz is expected to bring the audience up to speed with latest developments at the high tech business estate and also within the Silverstone Technology Cluster of which she is Chair…

Recently in front of 400 guests she used the workings of both as prime examples of how to improve future prospects for the Cambridge-Milton Keynes-Oxford growth corridor – promotion of which will be among the themes at SNC’s conference.

Notably the event, in Silverstone circuit’s Wing building (Wednesday 19 September), will feature an STC stand to highlight its rapid emergence in the last 18 months as a key industry cluster for UK plc.

Roz and CEO Pim van Baarsen will host the stand which will enable them to engage in one-to-one discussions with visitors who are expected to include senior business and industry figures from the surrounding region – a number of them heading up some of the innovative companies based at Silverstone Park.

The event, from 18:00-20:00, will also feature other high profile speakers, networking sessions and interactive esports activities.

Roz commented: “The world class high tech capabilities of businesses in Northamptonshire are now well documented.

“Both Silverstone Park and the Silverstone Technology Cluster are understood as global destinations for advanced engineering, electronics and software development which, in today’s high tech world, are increasingly important to both government and UK plc.

“From MEPC’s experience of developing Silverstone Park, Northamptonshire certainly has the activity, connectivity, the capabilities and the innovation to excite the finance and business community and also position it as a key influencer in shaping the future of the ‘Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Oxford’ geography.”

The above event follows a second visit to Silverstone Park by the Department for International Trade’s (DIT) Export Hub on Thursday 13 September.

Later in the year the estate will be at NEC Birmingham’s Advanced Engineering Show (Weds 31 Oct/Thurs 1 Nov) alongside the STC which, for the second successive year, will sponsor the event’s popular VIP Lounge.

Immediately following that Silverstone Park will then be a sponsor of and have its own stand at Motorsportdays.LIVE (Sat 2/Sun 3 Nov), again inside Silverstone circuit’s Wing – an event that showcases new opportunities within the motorsport industry.
