Silverstone Park’s Commercial Director Roz Bird has been shortlisted for the Institute of Directors’ prestigious ‘East Midlands Director of the Year’ award in Innovation.
Roz has overseen Silverstone Park’s growth for developer MEPC since 2014. It is now recognised as one of the most exciting science parks in the UK and as a leader in high tech, innovation and business development.
She is also a Director of the Silverstone Technology Cluster and was instrumental in its formation in late 2016.
The STC was immediately recognised as an industrial cluster with ‘latent potential’ by the government because of its exceptional skills and capabilities in high tech engineering – all within a one hour’s drive time radius around Silverstone.
Roz will now attend the IoD’s annual awards ceremony in Nottingham next Friday (8 June). The East Midlands winner will automatically be shortlisted for the IoD’s national awards in October.
“I am delighted to have been shortlisted for this award,” said Roz.
“It reflects the achievement of two highly motivated teams of people at Silverstone Park and within the Silverstone Technology Cluster.
“Both are going from strength to strength and are gaining recognition for their work helping high-tech businesses – many of them start-ups and SMEs – to grow, attract talent and collaborate on a national and global scale.
“I am looking forward to attending the IoD’s ceremony in Nottingham and to meeting, I’m sure, some inspiring people from a variety of industry sectors.”
