Striking new look for Silverstone Park Formula E team NIO 333 Racing

Case Studies / 15 Dec 2022

Silverstone Park-based racing team NIO 333 Racing has revealed the striking livery that its two cars will sport in 2023’s FIA Formula E (FE) World Championship.

The cars have been designed, built and prepared inside the team’s 12,400 sq ft premises at Silverstone Park before being transported to the Valencia circuit in Spain this week for initial testing.

Both meet Formula E’s latest ‘Gen 3’ technical regulations, making them the most advanced electric racing cars in existence, along with those on the rest of the FE grid.

Their first race will be in Mexico in mid-January before 15 more races around the world in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, South Africa, Brazil, Germany, Monaco, Indonesia, USA, Italy and the UK where the 2023 season will end with two races in London next July.

Throughout it all, technicians at NIO 333’s Silverstone Park base will link up live with colleagues around the globe via a technically advanced ‘mission control’ room inside the team’s premises.

This provides real-time data and helps technicians at home and overseas make improvements to the cars, being raced in 2023 by Briton Dan Ticktum and Brazilian Sergio Sette Camara.

Meanwhile, the new livery design symbolises a continued close working relationship between NIO and 333 Racing, using the former’s traditional light blue with the latter’s house colours of dark blue and red.

The red in 333 Racing’s livery signifies the Chinese racing team’s national heritage, and is the most noticeable new touch to the livery.

NIO 333 Racing’s Chief Operating Officer and Team Principal Russell O’Hagan commented:

“It’s an exciting time for the championship and we’ve worked hard with our design team to generate something dynamic, modern and stylish – it looks great!

”I’m really looking forward to seeing the car in motion in Valencia at the pre-season test.

“The signs are positive, but time will tell and we don’t have to wait much longer to find out. I am incredibly proud of what the team have achieved so far.”
