US Army tech cohort visit Silverstone Park occupiers

Silverstone Park occupiers have hosted senior figures and tech companies allied to the US Army’s ‘DEVCOM’ technology procurement division during a further show of networking with the Silverstone Technology Cluster (STC).

Delta Cosworth, the Digital Manufacturing Centre, KWSP and Silverstone Composites welcomed nine companies – each a finalist in US DEVCOM’s high-profile xTechInternational competition – into their premises at Silverstone Park.

The companies were represented by 25 individuals from across Europe, the US and Canada. Also in attendance were officials from DEVCOM Atlantic plus the US Air Force, Army, Navy, Army xTech Program and even the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Ground Vehicle Systems Centre (DEVCOM GVSC).

Silverstone Park was the only location other than London where the US Army took its xTechInternational finalists during the competition’s finals week.

Ryan Decker, US Army DEVCOM Lead for xTech International 2023: Advanced Manufacturing and Materials commented:

“Our team wanted to expose our joint services experts in advanced manufacturing and materials to the cutting-edge technologies, near this year’s host city of London.

“After learning more about the STC and the impressive technology solutions being developed, we decided it would be beneficial for our competition finalists to join as well.

“We hope the experience provided valuable networking opportunities for all involved. The trip was a success and helped build excitement for the days to follow.”

David Dupont, Senior Business Development Manager, Delta Cosworth, said:

“Hosting such a prestigious organisation at Silverstone Park and giving brands at the estate the opportunity to connect and interact with DEVCOM is something we have cherished.

“It has enabled the Cosworth Group to showcase its competencies in propulsion, performance electronics and electrification to a wide variety of high-ranking decision makers who operate in a multitude of sectors with DEVCOM’s administration.

Kieron Salter, founder of KWSP and the DMC, added:

“This was an interesting visit and it was good to continue building connections with such a cohort of people.

“DEVCOM were also able to see Silverstone Park and the businesses here as a place to visit and with which to potentially collaborate.”

“This visit marked another milestone in our relationship with US DEVCOM,” stated STC CEO Pim van Baarsen.

“The feedback from them has been very positive. They are interested in doing more with us and we are in conversation with them to develop further initiatives and opportunities for our members.

“Certainly, there were a lot of questions and people were engaged. Our guests had all heard of the cluster and Silverstone and were impressed by what they saw and heard from the four STC members.”
