Electric bicycle operator Fully Charged is to use its Silverstone Park premises to expand its offering in both the eCargo and Family eCargo bike markets after seeing a rise in usage of them in the south Midlands region.

“We imagined we’d be working primarily in single-person bikes but the market in this region has taken a turn so now we see the opportunities to work in larger bikes,” said Tristan Allen, Partner, Fully Charged.

Depending on the model (two, three and four-wheeled specifications are available), eCargo bikes can transport up to 400kg of goods – thereby offering a cleantech solution to micro-mobility.

Family eCargo bikes can carry one adult and three children and, like their eCargo counterparts, are proving popular in areas which suffer from traffic congestion.

The Fully Charged group has seen sales of the two types of bike rocket by 15% to account for 42% of its sales volume.

Tristan continued: “Their popularity has grown not just in London but city centres like Oxford or other forward-thinking cities like Milton Keynes where there are restrictions on car movement.

Fully Charged says its Silverstone Park location makes it ideally placed to market both the eCargo Family eCargo options to local authorities, unified councils, SMEs and corporate B2B customers within the Oxford to Cambridge growth corridor.

“The eCargo bike is becoming an increasingly popular option amongst business who might be on the same estate – literally 500 metres apart – and they need to move product or parts between one another. They do away with using a diesel van, for example, for such short journeys,” continued Tristan.

Dan Parsons, Fully Charged’s Co-Founder and Head of B2B, commented: “Silverstone was Fully Charged’s first partner store and has been a test bed for lots of the initiatives we have rolled out since the pandemic.

“To re-focus this location as our market evolves is exactly the right thing to do and we look forward to serving a wider audience and sharing the expertise we have built up over many years of delivering B2B and Family eCargo solutions.”
