High performance cycling specialist Vires Velo has opened a state-of-the-art ‘idmatch’ bicycle fitting studio at Silverstone Park.
The company’s arrival adds further depth to the growing number of advanced engineering businesses across the campus, strengthening a community recognised for innovation, research and high performance development.
Vires Velo’s studio centres on the idmatch bike fitting system – an intelligent platform that scans a rider’s body and analyses biomechanics and physiology to determine an optimal position.
Its dynamic jig can mirror any bicycle geometry, allowing riders to test and refine their set up in real time. AI driven modelling and precise data points give cyclists the accuracy they need to unlock performance gains and long term comfort.
The studio also showcases Vires Velo’s elite level equipment, including the Factor range of carbon fibre bikes – machines with deep engineering pedigree and race proven design, typically in the £7,000–£12,000 bracket.
Together, the fitting suite, equipment and demo opportunities position the new studio as a destination for performance focused cyclists.
Being based within the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub – a world class facility for Olympic level cyclists thanks to its data driven wind tunnel – gives Vires Velo direct access to specialist testing capabilities and a wider network of sports engineering expertise.
Vires Velo’s MD is John Bailey, a former senior electronics engineer for Formula 1 teams in the Nineties. He later founded BF1, responsible for the famously complex steering wheels, with multi-function electronics built into a superlight and rigid carbon fibre structure, supplied to all F1 teams in 2008.
John said: “We are very excited to open our new studio amongst the world class facilities in Silverstone Park and SSEH.
“Advanced engineering and performance are central to our offerings – with my own personal connections to the world of motorsports, Silverstone Park is the ideal location for us.
“We hope that our new studio will become a destination for passionate cyclists looking to take their cycling to the next level.”
