Formula E team unveils new ERT brand

News / 16 Jan 2024

One of the two Formula E teams located at Silverstone Park has rebranded itself the ERT (Electric Racing Technologies) Formula E Team following recent investment.

The team, which previously ran under the NIO name, says it is now ready to begin a new chapter from its 12,400 sq ft premises at the Park.

In a statement it said it had “high ambitions and extensive plans to expand their electrification expertise into new markets”.

The statement continued: “As one of only six Formula E manufacturers, ERT is rich in knowledge, experience, and IP, all of which the company are set to commercialise as part of this rebirth, focusing on the application of on-track technology to road products, as well as supporting the wider industry with electrification technology in their push for more sustainable transport solutions.”

Alex Hui, Team Principal, commented: “We are proud to unveil our new identity as the ERT Formula E Team; it is an exciting step in our journey. As the only manufacturer Formula E team that is not currently tied to an OEM, our powertrain and software development has been done independently, putting us in a unique position.

“Utilising what we have learnt on track, we have already identified that we have a lot to offer in terms of improving electric vehicle performance, not just in relation to powertrains but whole vehicle engineering support and solutions, something which is already proving of interest within the automotive and motorsport industries.

“It is a natural progression for us to move forward commercialising this knowledge with the increasing global adoption of EVs, particularly as Formula E provides such a strong platform for OEMs and as such our conversations with partners in this arena are already advanced.”

On track, the ERT squad is participating in season ten of the Formula E World Championship.

Formula E is the world’s premier category for purely electric racing cars and pushes the boundaries in high-performance electric vehicle technologies as well as sustainability and ‘net zero’ targets. Its 2024 season comprises 17 races on bespoke-built circuits in cities across five continents.

Also competing in the championship will be ERT’s Silverstone Park neighbour Envision Racing which won last year’s Formula E Teams’ title.
