David Brown Automotive has begun production of its new Mini eMastered – a fully electric-powered version of its luxury Mini Remastered road car – at its Silverstone Park premises.
Mini eMastered adds to the internal combustion engine Mini Remastered and ‘grand touring’ Speedback GT niche models it also manufactures at its 18,000 sq ft premises, home to the company since 2017.
“We have already received orders for Mini eMastered from various destinations including North America, Asia and Europe, and hope to produce up to 50 per year,” confirmed Michelle Gay, the company’s Sales & Marketing Director.
“As more cities introduce clean air zones, Mini eMastered was a logical decision. We believe its electric powertrain, plus compact size and manoeuvrability, will make it one of the very best luxury city cars out there.
“Our team of 30 build technicians at Silverstone Park have been retrained in EV technologies to continue to meet our very highest standards of design, refinement, build and technical quality.
“Each Mini eMastered is expected to take around seven months to complete before leaving our Silverstone Park workshop for distribution to its owner.”
Mini eMastered accelerates from 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds and has a top speed of 92mph in sports mode. Its battery, which takes three hours to recharge from empty, produces 18.8 kWh, with maximum power put at 72 kW. Torque is recorded at 175Nm.
Customers of David Brown Automotive’s range of niche luxury cars include famous names from music, big business and haute couture, as well as overseas royalty.
All models combine latest technologies and engineering methods mixed with traditional, high-end ‘coachbuilding’ techniques and materials to retain an authentic classic feel. Every remastered Mini model it produces incorporates an original chassis and/or body refurbished by the company.
